Civil Case Under Review after Quick Ruling

A case was brought forward against the Minnesota State Police in civil court for property damage. Reportedly, the case saw a ruling in favor of the plaintiff, in just 5 minutes, just after opening statements.

Whilst the presiding judge, Chief Justice Gallagher was giving out this ruling, he stated something along the lines of: "I kind of knew the ruling I was going to give before this case", then ruled in favor of the defendant, ordering $31,250.00 in Nominal, Punitive and Compensatory damages.

After this ruling was given, the case was put under review by the Department of Justice, with the defendants requesting a retrial under a new judge. We asked Attorney General Hondo, who was the defending attorney for this case for comment, and he gave us the following:

"Although I can sit here and say that he’s a good person and I believe his actions are justified and I truly stand by that. I believe that what he did needed to be reviewed further beyond that everyone needs reminders that need a 2nd looking and even though the ruling is getting looked into does not mean he’s not a great judge He knows his ways And as the AG I will review the case further if it escalates to that."

We will follow the story as it develops.
